First Prize – “Milas Seeks Its Symbol Object” Competition

My design, “EDU-LABRYS,” was awarded First Prize in the International “Milas Seeks Its Symbol Object” Competition, organized in collaboration with the Milas District Governor’s Office, the Municipality of Milas, and the Karia Culture and Arts Association.

The fact that the project is planned to be adopted as a representative object of Milas’ cultural and tourism identity, and to be reproduced by the Milas Public Education Center for sustainable use in tourism promotion and cultural representation, makes this achievement even more meaningful and valuable to me.

Developed with the aim of bringing together the history, cultural heritage, and natural identity of Milas within a single contemporary form, EDU-LABRYS reinterprets the city’s most significant values—from the Labrys, the symbol of Caria, to Ionic architecture, Uzunyuva, the region’s olive culture, its maritime identity, and Milas carpet weaving—through a unified design language.

Seeing a project that has the potential to make a lasting contribution to the cultural identity of the city where I live receive such recognition has been a great honor and source of happiness for me.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Milas District Governor’s Office, the Municipality of Milas, the Karia Culture and Arts Association, the distinguished members of the jury, and everyone who contributed to this meaningful process.
